Tattering, creasing, tearing and chipping to covers, spine and preliminaries. Crude tape repair to inside of front cover, with marking on title page. Slightly dog-eared corners to some pages. Binding strained, though contents all present and intact. Despite the tattered covers and outer pages, inner contents between the preliminaries and hindmost pages in rather good condition, very clean, only the occasional mark and with little wear other than at their very edges. Damp staining to upper ends of first 70-ish pages, which has puckered them and the top edge of the front cover a little but they are not heavily marked. A little marking to bottom edges of pages. Some scuffing, a little marking, small signs of shelf-wear but overall colouring of leather and gilt detail very vivid apart from rubbing to small part of crest on front board. Binding firm. Corners slightly bumped. Book fans out a little towards outer edges, slight curvature to boards. Page edges and endpapers have attractive marbling. College prizegiving bookplate to front pastedown. In The Interpretation of Contracts the author states the various rules in the form of short propositions of law, which are followed by extensive critical discussion, and in many cases the real application of the proposition is illustrated. Subjects considered include the object of interpretation, the materials available, law and precedent, the meaning of words, implied terms, the canons of construction, ambiguity and inconsistencies, mistakes and inconsistencies, and preliminary parts of a deed.

Jackets appear to have been price-clipped. Blue cloth binding, blind-stamped/embossed front boards, gilt lettering to spines. Very clean, hardly any wear, colouring vivid. Bindings firm. Page edges deckled at lower and fore-edges, a little scuffed but very clean. Parliament and Politics in Late Medieval England by J.S. Roskell in three volumes.Hardback, first edition, 1981-3, published by Hambledon Press, London.Each volume has its dust jacket. Some discolouration to jacket spines and wear at edges. The first two volumes are ex-library books and have typical stamps, markings, label remnants, etc. Boards and spines show a little shelf-wear but generally very clean - the first volume's spine has a small library sticker but otherwise there are only a few small marks to the boards of each volume. Bindings firm. Page edges a little marked and the first two volumes contain library stamps. Page edges tanned, especially third volume. Corners a little bumped and torn. Some slackness to spines but contents reasonably firm, although there may be the odd page that is only partially attached. Page edges a little marked but reasonably clean.
