Reprinted in 1960-1961. The Introductory volume and volumes 1-20 were printed in 1960, while volumes 21-53 were printed in 1961. All volumes are uniformly bound in red cloth with gilt lettering to spine. The Introductory volume admits to several bumps and tiny tears to cloth, as well as being slightly shaken. The remainder of the volumes admit to minor bumps to extremities of covers, as well as edges of some pages. Minor creasing here and there to pages. Just a few minor tears and/or tiny wear spots to covers on a small number of volumes. Text clean. Bindings sound. Cloth is somewhat faded on spine, and also on boards, as is gilt lettering, though all can still be read. Overall, this is a good, clean, sound set with good paper. Weimar;: Hermann Bohlau of Weimar / Hermann Bohlaus Nachfolger, 1883. Leather. Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. EX-LIBRARY. German and Latin text. 131 physical volumes. Printing dates range from 1883-2009. 88 of the volumes are largely uniformly bound in decorated half leather. The remainder of the volumes are published in variant colors and cloth or buckram, with some consecutive volumes being uniformly bound. The exteriors of the leather volumes admit to varying degrees of wear, with some chipping to extremities and pieces of leather missing or repaired with tape on some volumes. To be clear, this is not terribly offensive wear and all bindings in this set are sound and firm. Pages admit to some tanning, though not offensively so. Only a very few ink marks were noted to interior. Texts blocks are all square. Overall, this is a good, sound set that could be used in a personal or institutional library, though some repairs to exterior could be made to facilitate longer usage.… Leer más

Please read entire description to attain a fuller understanding of the nature of the bindings, the overall condition, and bibliographical notes. This set consists of 18 volumes bound in 19 physical volumes (Volume 1 bound as 2). Ex-library set. Volumes are largely uniform in appearance, though the set is comprised of volumes from several publishers, including 4 reprints from the 1960's by Kraus. The first 13 volumes are noted as being a second edition, while the others do not note any edition. Volumes 1-12 were printed in 1925, volumes 13-14 in 1964, volume 15 in 1929, volume 16 in 1932, and volumes 17-18 in 1966. Cloth is in burgundy, with largely bright gilt lettering to spine. Paris / Mans: Gruel et Engelmann (Publisher) / Edmond Monnoyer (Printer), 1883. Leather. Very Good-. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. xvi, 656pp. Signed binding. This volume contains the Lamennais French translation of the Imitation and is followed by the Ordinary of the Mass in French and Latin. Bound in full, burgundy leather, with clear and bright gilt decorative cross on both front and back covers, along with clear and bright gilt title on upper spine, and clear and bright gilt binder name (Gruel) to lower spine. All edges gilt. If one looks closely and/or fans the pages a little, one can see that the edges of the pages are marbled below the gilt. This creates a lovely appearance to the page edges. Dark green marker-ribbon admits to light wear. The covers admit to tiny wear spots, including several ever so tiny "cuts," here and there, though none of this is offensive. Mildly ex-library, with no exterior library markings on new binding. Volume admits to a mild cocking appearance, though this isn't offensive. Typical library treatments to title-page. Rebound in full cream colored leather with gilt lettering to spine. Top edges of pages gilt. Decorated parts of red cloth (1 to front cover, 2 to spine) from original red cloth binding were utilized in the new binding. Very minor wear to covers. Frontispiece, title-page and last plate professionally repaired (reattached to book). The repair includes new page edges (margins), which slightly cover the extremities of the plates. First approximately 6 pages admit to some wear, including small pieces missing, though there is no effect on the reading of the text. A small number of pages are in Swedish, including a short postscript. Bound in brown decorated boards. A little light wear to covers, with heavier wear to head and tail of spine, lower edges of boards, and joints. Text in red and black. No writing to interior. Tiny creases to lower corners of approximately 15 pages. Binding sound, though with just a hint of starting. A nice copy. VERY SCARCE

Leiden - Boston - Koln: Brill, 2002. First Edition . Hardcover. Good+/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 3 volumes. Volume 1: xiv, 547pp. (2002); Volume 2: xii, 551pp. (2010); Volume 3: x, 563pp., (iii) (2015). Publisher's binding for volume 3 is a little different than volumes 1 & 2 and is also a little shorter than the first 2 volumes. Ex-library, though exterior library treatments on covers have cleaned up very nicely, leaving only faint discoloration from where stickers used to be. Generally, just a touch of wear to covers, with a tiny worn through area and some discoloration to back cover, though none of this is that offensive. Overall, a nice, clean, sound and attractive copy of this set, with no writing to text

Washington, D.C. / Huntington, Indiana: National Council of Catholic Men / Our Sunday Visitor, 1930. Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Sixteen individual parts rebound in two hardcover volumes. The 16 individual publications are comprised of 165 short addresses in 1621 pages, including advertisements at the end of most volumes. EX-LIBRARY SET. Individual talks were given between 1930 and 1941. These volumes contain various but early editions of these works. Some dates of publication are "circa", as the bibliographical information in volumes is not always clear. Original front soft covers (original wrappers) of each booklet nicely bound in. Each volume is bound in a simple, dark red library cloth, with yellow lettering to spine. Volumes admit to typical library treatments. Edition tiree a quatre-vingts examplaires sur papier velin a la forme (This edition is not numbered.) Includes engraved frontispiece and 36 (thirty-six) additional plates at end of volume. A number of additional illustrations to text, all in black and white. Circa 1895. Volume was originally bound in 1/2 black leather, with gilt lettering to spine. Leather is very worn, including being brittle in places. The leather over the spine is detached at back and nearly detached at front. The buyer should assume that the leather over spine will become completely detached. That being said, because the binding is a reinforced binding, the boards remain much more firmly attached. Facsimile volume (hardcover) (1987) + Commentary volume (softcover) (1988). Lovely facsimile volume in miniature is in excellent condition. Facsimile volume rests in a metal case that is attached to a metal chain. Commentary volume admits to several minor dings to extremities and a touch of wear to covers. Text clean. Bindings sound. Volumes are accompanied by the original card indicating that this is one of only 1000 limited and numbered copies prepared for the English speaking market. Additionally, the original box that the volume was distributed in is present. This box admits to a number of small bumps, small missing pieces, and some additional, inoffensive light wear to exterior. Overall, a good, clean, sound, and certainly attractive copy

Amstelodami (Amsterdam): Sumptibus Societatis, 1745. Leather. Good+. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. 2 volumes. Volume I: (iv), 531pp., (i) (Errata); Volume II: (iv), 323pp., (i), viii, 138p. Very nicely and newly rebound in 1/2 dark reddish brown leather over marble paper covered boards, with gilt lettering to spine. Bindings are strong. Volumes include new endpapers and open very nicely, making the books very user friendly. Several institutional stamps to title-pages, as well as a small number of additional pages. A very neat, single line of writing in ink to each title-page. Volumes have been fully collated, with all wear noted. Pages admit to mostly just light foxing, here and there, with a little heavier foxing to a small number of leaves. Additionally, creasing and some erasure marks can be found, here and there, though are not offensive at all. One leaf admits to a tiny hole, with no loss of lettering. A hint of a bump to upper corner of front board. Small, faint soiled spot to lower front board. Text clean. Short creases to extremities of a few pages. Binding sound. Sticker to lower spine of dust-jacket, with some light wear in places to jacket (mainly extremities), which is covered in a clear protective cover from when it was in a monastic library. Jacket is attached to plastic with clear tape on the "inside" of jacket. If the plastic cover is removed, it would leave several small pieces of clear tape behind. Overall, a good, clean, sound copy

Volume 1 appears to be missing 1 issue, while volume 9 is complete in a single issue. Volumes 2-8 are complete in 2 issues each. Sixteen of a possible 17 called for issues (volumes) for these years are present. The set contains an assortment of articles across various disciplines, though tending towards the theological. Additionally, there are many book reviews and lists of "books received," which offers interesting insight in itself. These volumes include the span of years when the Second Vatican Council was taking place and offer a little insight into contemporary thought about aspects of the Council. Mildly ex-library, with no exterior library markings. Minor ink-stamps to interior. Pagination runs continuously through both volumes, with 16 pages of prefatory material to each volume and 928 total pages of text. Volumes are profusely illustrated. Volume 1 was printed in 1879, while volume 2 was printed in 1882. Very nicely and uniformly bound in 1/2 red leather, with 5 faux raised bands to spines, and gilt lettering, decorations, and rule to spines. Additional gilt to leather on boards. Marbled endpapers. Leather is generally very nice, with several small worn area to extremities. Just a touch of soiling to edges of pages. Bindings are sound, with reinforced hinges. Several tiny chips and tiny worn areas to original black leather, which can only be seen on spine and edges of covers. All edges gilt. With marker-ribbons.
