Original old cloth laid over front, spine and back is moderately worn, so the book retains its original appearance but now has a strong, tight binding with new end papers. Attractive gilt and black cover design. Owner's name label inside. Internal content is generally quite clean and free of marks, but has a few small, minor and widely scattered smudges. Old tape repair on page 105/106 of the index.The volume opens with a short historical and descriptive sketch of Philadelphia, then is divided into two parts. Also, fold out map of health springs in Virginia. Frontis is a large fold out (18 by 15 1/2 inches) color lithograph of a birds eye view of the White Sulphur Springs in Virginia. Folds and tears have been reinforced on the rear with archival repair tape. This frontis fold out is loose and not bound into the book.
