A news-magazine piece on the family appearing in Chicago's Sunday Inter Ocean (9/29/1901) describes both of Potter's daughters being "authors of books of wide circulation and of advocating his socialist ideas in fiction." Mrs. Daniels complains of her published works being "suppressed through the interference of capital." She is perhaps better known for the 1902 novel, "Eshrek the Oppressor." King (1875-1949) to this booklet consists of an art deco watercolored illustration in black, blue, yellow and green, with the characteristic hand-lettered title. The 1863 edition is surmised from two details: the signature in old ink by Author Francis Parkman, dated Nov. 16, 1863 on the ffep., as well as the four-page Publisher's Catalogue (dated March 1859) bound in at the front.
