A near fine set, the bindings square and firm with minor bumping to the extremities and a little fading to the spine of the final volume. The contents with the occasional spot of light foxing to the edges of the textblock are otherwise in very good order and clean throughout. An uncommon set of Collinson's works concerning the history of Cairns, Queensland, Australia and its surrounding area.

The contents comprising 157pp. of ink manuscript text in several different hands (completely full), beginning in a late eighteenth/early nineteenth-century hand (43pp., plus another 16pp. in the same hand at the rear providing medicinal and household recipes), with the remainder (98pp.) largely in a mid nineteenth-century hand, although including a few later nineteenth-century entries. The binding with significant cracking to the front hinge (although still holding), loss to the foot of the spine and some bowing to the boards. The contents with one page at the rear detached and with chipping, another rear page coming a little loose, some minor chipping to the edges of the preliminary pages and some scattered toning and marking, as expected, are otherwise in good order. Signed in pencil by the artist on the limitation page of the third volume. Octavo. The three volumes bound in the publisher's original full black leather with titles in gilt to the upper board and spine. Contrasting yellow, blue, and red endpapers with silk ribbon page-marker to each volume. The contents reproducing the sketchbooks of EKTA in full colour. The accompanying text booklet in card wrappers, contained within a pocket at the rear of the third volume. The set contained within the publisher's original grey cloth slipcase, with individual black paint decoration to one panel. A fine set, the bindings square and tight; the contents clean and bright throughout - appears unread. The slipcase with a touch of shelf wear is otherwise in very good condition. Contemporary green cloth by Remnant and Edmonds (their ticket to the rear pastedown) with embossed decoration to the boards and decorative gilt titles to the spine. All edges gilt. Profusely illustrated throughout with full-page and in-text black and white line drawings. [5], 249pp. + [3], 271pp. Contemporary ink prize inscription to the front free endpaper. Small previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. A good copy, the binding square and firm with a little cracking to the rear hinge; the spine expertly relaid, with a little wear to the tips and a minor split to the cloth covering the middle of the upper joint. The contents with the occasional spot of toning are otherwise in very good order throughout. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece. 107pp. A very good copy, the binding firm with a little rubbing and marking to the boards and minor wear to the corners of the boards and tips of the spine. The contents are in very good order throughout. An attractive edition of this popular tale, first published in 1806. This was Cottin's final and most famous work, telling the story of a young woman who travels from Siberia to St. Petersburg to secure a pardon for her exiled father.

London: Dean and Munday., 1815. 12mo. Publisher's original boards with printed titles in black to the upper board and spine. Page edges untrimmed. Additional engraved pictorial title page and frontispiece. A very good, unsophisticated copy, the binding secure although with cracking to the joints (the boards held by the cords only, albeit firmly), chipping and loss to the spine and wear to the corners and extremities. The contents with toning, the occasional minor mark, a small hole to pp.201-202 (affecting a couple of words, but with no loss of meaning), and the odd small tear or chip to page margins where pages have been roughly opened, are otherwise in very good order. A scarce edition of Longueville's imaginary shipwreck narrative - "an enormously popular work, rivalling Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, of which it is possibly the best imitation" (Howgego, 'Encyclopaedia of Exploration: Invented and Apocryphal Narratives of Travel').
