The book is beautifully illustrated with numerous full-page color plates by JESSIE WILLCOX SMITH. The chapters are as follows: David Copperfield; Little Women; Jackanapes; Tiny Tim; Hans Brinker; Alice in Wonderland; The Little Lame Prince; Heidi, the Alpine Rose; Mowgli; Little Nell; Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. Oversized - the book measures 12 1/4" tall x 9 1/2" wide.Condition:Some light soiling to the covers; small cloth tears at the cover corners; tiny cloth tear at the left edge of the back cover. There is a small cloth tear at the top-right corner of the spine, and a small piece missing at the bottom-right corner. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Light age-toning to the pages. Consistent foxing to the illustrated (heavy on some plates), and to the pages before and after them. There is a name/date (1937) written in pen on the front end paper. Overall the book is in Good condition.

This is a vintage, unused children's activity kit, the "Busy Week Library" - To Keep Busy the Little Hands and Little Head. Circa 1930's. Published by Saml. Gabriel Sons & Company. The set comes in a great condition, illustrated storage box with 4 as-new (unused) activity books and 2 sets of crayons. Condition:The storage box is in excellent condition with only some staining on the under-side of the box top. No tears to the panels. The 5 activity books are unused and appear as issued with no markings or wear. The cellophane over one of the crayon compartments has torn. Some of the crayons in the second compartment have partially melted.

"Carl Krinken - His Christmas Stocking" - from Ellen Montgomery's Book Shelf. 1854 1st edition (though there is an inscription dated 1853); G.P. Putnam & Co.; New York. Illustrated.Condition:Soiling to the covers and spine. Cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine, and at the cover corners. Tight binding with no loose pages. There is a minor crack at the hinge between pages 288 & 289 - despite the crack, both covers remain firmly attached. The pages are age-toned with consistent smudges, foxing and staining. There is an inscription written in pen dated 1853 on the front end paper. Overall the book is in Good- condition.

This is a charming, beautifully illustrated collection of poetry for - and about - children, "CHILD IDEALS - Quotations from the Great Writers." Circa 1880's (there is no date of publication stated); DeWolfe Fiske & Co.; Boston. The book features wonderful color chromolithographs of children by FRANCES BRUNDAGE, as well as decorations around the text. There are nine poems in all by authors such as Robert Louis Stevenson and George MacDonald. The book measures 8 1/8" tall x 5 7/8" wide.Condition:The book is in Near Fine - clean both inside and out with only a small, light stain spot at the bottom of the front cover. The tied ribbon at the left edge of the spine has frayed where ribbon inserts into the bottom hole. The inside of the book is in great condition - clean pages with bright colors to the illustrations; the inside front cover has two small, light stains at the inner edge near the spine. A wonderful copy.
